Description

The MiG-19PM was a radar-equipped missile carrying all-weather interceptor developed in parallel with the MiG-19S clear-weather fighter in the early 1950s. It was a single-seat, all-metal monoplane powered by two Mikulin RD-9B turbojets.

The MiG-19PMs were assigned to Soviet Air Force VVS, PVO and naval units and outside the USSR they were supplied in greater numbers only to WarPac countries – Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, East Germany and Hungary –, while Albania also took delivery of a small number of the ‘PM’ version. China received a handful of pattern aircraft for their own production, but faced major manufacture problems and later their machines were only supplied to domestic air force.
