Licence production of its clear-weather fighter model was started in China in 1961 under the designation Shenyang J-6 and in total 3,300 aircraft were built. It was a single-seat, all-metal monoplane powered by two WP-6 (a licence-built Mikulin RD-9B) turbojets and designed for interception, close air support and limited fighter-bomber roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Besides the Chinese Air Force, Pakistan can be regarded as the biggest foreign user of the Chinese models.
